My First Time Open Water Swimming at Ragley Hall

So this week after speaking to Chris at Henty Smart Commuter Bags, I went to join him at for the 1st Open Water Swimming Session at Ragley Hall with the Evesham Vale Triathletes….I loved every moment of it.

In just over 2 weeks at the time of this post, I am entering The Blenheim Palace Triathlon (I’ve entered the Sprint – so 750m Swim, 19.8km Cycle and 5.4km Run)……Problem is, I’ve done very little training for it.

I can Run, I’m not so bad at cycling, BUT I’ve never swam in Open Water in a wetsuit Wetsuit until this week and in just over 2 weeks, I’ll be taking part in the my first Triathlon.

Safety First…

  • Find a local club if you fancy trying it, you’ll know the water is clean and safe and there will be safety spotters just in case you get in to trouble. You can find more information at https://wildswim.com

  • Buy a Tight Fitting Wetsuit designed for swimming

  • Start Open Water Swimming slowly….it takes time to get used to swimming in a wetsuit (it makes you more buoyant), it’s colder than a Swimming Pool and when I was swimming the lake was not clear which was a little disorientating.

And THANK YOU to Chris at Henty Commuter Smart Cycling Bags for inviting me down…..you can check out the bags HERE
